Hadith About Na Mehram

Not Permissible For A Man To Be Alone With A Woman 1.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: That he heard the Prophet saying, It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Muhram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case for ever; e.g. her father, brother, etc.). Then a man got up and said, O Allah's Apostle! I have enlisted in the army for such-and-such Ghazwa and my wife is proceeding for Hajj. Allah's Apostle said, Go, and perform the Hajj with your wife.

It is every Muslim’s duty to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong in the light of Islam.

In the Noble Quran, Allah Almighty has called the followers of the Last Prophet (ﷺ) as the best Ummah (people). Why did He (SwT) confer the title of the best nation on the Muslim Ummah?

The reason has also been explained in the same verse, i.e. verse 110 of Surah Ali ‘Imran (chapter 3). It reads, “You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.”

Here you will learn a Sahih Hadith about Na Mehram in Urdu and English.

In Islam, a Mehran is a kin with whom marriage is considered haram or illegal. And Na Mehram is just the opposite of it, i.e. a marriageable kin. Pardah is obligatory from a Na Mehram.

Hadith about Na Mehram:

Allah’s Rasool (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) forbade a man and a woman to sit in loneliness or travel with a Na Mehram. There is a Sahih Hadith about Na Mehram.

In Hadith No. 3006, Sahih Bukhari, He (ﷺ) has been reported as saying, “It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Mehram.” While Allah’s Apostle was saying this, a Sahabi (RA) stood up and said that he had enlisted himself in the army for a Ghazwah and that his wife was proceeding for Hajj. Hearing this, Allah’s Rasool (ﷺ) commanded him, “Go, and perform the Hajj with your wife.”
