Springing from the nobility of mind, kindness is a great virtue with manifold benefits. On the first place, it gives you spiritual satisfaction and happiness. Second, obliging attitude of person whom you have treated kindly will further boost the level of pleasure you are experiencing. Third, Allah Almighty will shower his countless blessings on you. Fourth, a great reward is ready in the world hereafter.

Hadith about Kindness with Reference:

Allah Almighty sent Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) as a mercy for the world. Verse 107 of Chapter 21 (Surah Al-Anbya) says, “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.”

The word “worlds” suggests that He (ﷺ) has been sent as a mercy not only in this world but also for the one hereafter.

There are several Sahih Ahadees which advocate kindness and give warnings to those who violate. For example, in Hadees No. 5997, Chapter Al-Adab (Good Manners), Sahih Bukhari, Allah’s Last Messenger (ﷺ) has been narrated as saying, “Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully.”

Similarly, in Hadees No. 6013 in the same book also gives the same command and warning.

Quranic Verse about Kindness:

While Allah (SwT) is Himself the Most Merciful, he also wants us to be kind to his creatures, especially human beings.

لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَآتَى الْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ ذَوِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَالسَّائِلِينَ (2:177)

Translation: “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day (Day of Judgement), the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves.”
