First Wicket to First Cricketer-turned Prime Minister – July 25 Repeats Itself:

It took Imran Khan over four decades to journey from the first wicket to the first cricketer-turned Prime Minister of the world’s sixth largest country by population.

It was July 25, 1974, when Khan played against England in the Leeds Test. The very next day, he got the first wicket of his career as a cricketer. As the history was set to repeat itself, July 25 of 2018 brought another great day in the life of the same person. But this time, the victory was of the much greater magnitude than the previous one.

Former India captain Kapil Dev congratulated Imran Khan over phone on his victory in General Election 2018 and expressed the hope that former Pakistan captain would continue to work selflessly for the prosperity of the country.

He said, “Well done young man! You’ve worked very hard for 20 odd years for the country and today you get the reward.” “It was not easy to lead the team like Pakistan. Because of Khan’s brilliant captaincy, Pakistan did well. I hope as Prime Minister he does the same for the country”, he added.

India’s former cricketer and televangelist Najvot Singh Sidhu was all praise for PTI chief Imran Khan on his glorious victory. Talking to an Indian News channel, he said, “I truly believe he (Khan) can take them (Pakistanis) to new heights.” He added, “He has got a pure soul and brings people together, the same way he’s brought the Pakistani society together”.

Now people both at home and abroad have high hopes that Khan will bring prosperity to the country through his sincere, selfless effort.
